Allergies and Chinese Medicine

July 1, 2014

According to Chinese Medicine allergies are considered a "wind attack" or external pathogen. But often I find that patients' also have internal "damp heat" ...translated that means underlying inflamation deeper in the body. Often times the body is clogged with toxins which create inflamatory processes. So not only do I work to release the exterior or help the body expell the allergen, but I also work to clear the damp heat or inflamation that is going on deeper in the body.

Often times nourishing the kidneys and adrenals help with treating allergies because the body's fight and flight mechanism which gets turned on during the allergic response..also gets weak from overuse. So I clear out the body of inflamation and strenghten and nourish the  body mechanisms which help the immune system regulation.

Chinese herbs, anti-inflamatory supplments and homeopathic medicines are used. Acupuncture and acupressure can help strenghten the body and clear inflamation. Diet changes can also be important as foods can create internal inflamation.

Our clients do very well on our protocols. Starting ahead of your worst allergy season is recommended. But anytime can be a good time to start a detox. So call us to schedule your appointment or to ask us if these treatments are right for you.
